In Residence…
During the reformation of R O M A N C E, Jamie took up the role of Bar Manager at the 18th century venue, The George Tavern. After a hugely successful show a few months ago, the rest of the team at The George approached the band to set up a resident stint. For R O M A N C E, this could not come at a better time.
“Playing these regular shows at The George is perfect for us at the moment. We’ve been out of action for a little while and we’re ready to build ourselves back up! We’ve tied in a single release into our residency, it’s sort of my way of saying to everyone, ‘thanks for sticking with me’. The 7” picture disc will be available to buy at The George on it’s release night and the photograph of the band on the disc was shot by another member of staff at the bar. It’s a privilege to be able to put on these shows at a venue I have loved for years!”
The privately owned, east end tavern is currently under restoration, an expensive job that is all being self funded by landlady Pauline Forster and the bar! The venue is also the scene for many music video, film, TV, fashion and photo shoots for the likes of Vogue magazine, Channel 4, Kate Moss and Grace Jones just to name a few. Although a beautiful grade II listed building with many original features, The George is always under pressure from developers! Please see the bar’s Facebook page for more information.
